World MSMEs Day 2026
Today marks another significant milestone for Kenya's MSME ecosystem as we launched the Revised Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Policy 2026 during the World MSME Day 2026 celebrations at KICC, Nairobi.
The revised policy provides a comprehensive framework for creating an integrated, enabling business environment that will foster a productive, competitive, resilient and sustainable MSME sector capable of generating wealth, creating jobs and driving inclusive economic growth.
We extend our sincere appreciation to our President, H.E. Dr William Ruto for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to mainstreaming the MSME sector as a key pillar of Kenya's economic transformation. We particularly welcome his call for the private sector to partner with Government in developing innovative and inclusive financing solutions to bridge the estimated Ksh 3 trillion MSME financing gap.
We also thank our Cabinet Secretary, Waziri Hon FCPA Dr Wycliffe Oparanya for his steadfast leadership and commitment to our "Pesa Mfukoni" agenda, which continues to empower entrepreneurs, create jobs, strengthen enterprises and expand access to local, regional and global markets.
The State Department for MSMEs Development, working within the Whole-of-Government approach, remains firmly committed to implementing progressive policies and programmes that enable MSMEs to thrive, scale their businesses, create decent jobs and contribute even more meaningfully to Kenya's economic transformation and shared prosperity.
The journey ahead for Kenya's MSMEs will be marked by innovation, growth, industrialisation and expanded market opportunities. We have laid the foundation for our entrepreneurs to realise the vision of the "Singaporean Dream" as we build a globally competitive MSME sector.
