Principal Secretary Calls for Innovative Financing to Accelerate MSME Growth in Africa

At the close of Africa Capital Week, PS Susan Mang'eni emphasised the urgent need of re-engineering Africa’s MSME financing infrastructure to respond to today’s evolving business landscape. We must expand access to formal, affordable and sustainable financing that enables MSMEs to start and scale into large enterprises.

The Government of Kenya has established a pipeline for tomorrow’s entrepreneurs through initiatives such as the Hustler Fund and the NYOTA Project, while strengthening the MSME ecosystem through enhanced access to business development services, market linkages and credit.

PS Susan Mang'eni further called on capital markets across Africa to develop innovative financing vehicles that can channel more capital to MSMEs. Our collective goal must be to transition today’s young businesses into tomorrow’s large enterprises, create jobs and drive inclusive economic growth in the Continent. 
Also present during the closing ceremony were Dr Boniface Makokha, Principal Secretary for Economic Planning, and Dr Emanuel Nzai, Chairperson of the Vision 2030 Delivery board.
